Boise Rescue Mission Ministries reaches out to the community by teaching the word of God and providing food, shelter, clothing, counseling and education for those in need. The Boise Rescue Mission has been in the Southern Idaho area since 1958, working to help meet the spiritual, physical, and psychological needs of individuals who pass through their doors. Boise Rescue Mission Ministries serves by providing the homeless and nearly-homeless with shelter and food, and in addition to these vital resources assists individuals in need of counseling, education, substance abuse treatment, and more.
Emergency shelters in Boise and in Nampa provide a place for men and women to safely stay during their time of need. City Light Home for Women and Children was opened in 2000, to serve as a safe haven for women and their young ones in the Boise area. In 2008, the shelter served 76, 702 meals and provided over 20,000 beds for overnight stays. In the same year, thirty six commitments to Christ were made. City Light also works with individuals who need help changing their lives through the New Life Program. The program offers assistance and accountability through education, a supportive environment, and principles of the Christian Faith.
River of Life Rescue Mission in Boise and Lighthouse Rescue Mission in Nampa provide many of the same services to men. This year, the shelter serves about 900 meals a day. The Mission doesn’t stop there in helping members of the community--school and career counseling assistance is offered to help individuals get back on their feet. This includes tutoring, GED preparation and assistance, and mock interviews and resumes writing.
Each facility values volunteers and donations from the community to continue to minister to each person who walks through the doors of the Boise Rescue Mission.
