Accreditation & Degrees
HITC partners with Logos Christian College and Graduate School in Florida, granting Associate and Bachelor degrees in Biblical Studies (Click here to visit their website). Logos Christian College is not accredited, but they are authorized to grant degrees. HITC is also a member in good standing with the Association of Christian Educators and Administrators (ACEA).
~ LOGOS was authorized by the Florida State
Board of Independent Colleges and Universities in 1982 and continues as a
registered degree-granting institution with the Florida Department of
Education Commission for Independent Education.
~ LOGOS is peer accredited through the International
Association of Bible Colleges and Seminaries. www.iabcs.org.
Peer accreditation is not to be confused with Regional or Federal accreditation
(see below). Peer accreditation reflects a group of like-minded institutions
who agree on educational standards and recognize each other’s programs for the
purposes of inter-institutional recognition and transfer of credits.
~ LOGOS is a member school of the Association of
Christian Schools International. www.acsi.org.
~ LOGOS is not accredited by federal government
recognized agencies.
The following are our reasons:
- If a person desires an accredited program, there are
many available to choose from elsewhere, although they are very expensive and
require the student to take classes they may not need for their training in
ministry.
-
Non-government
accreditation allows us to practice the separation of church and state.
- Government
recognized accreditation would require us to offer a minimum of 30-45 hours of
general education requirements which we believe takes away from the scope and
breadth of our programs. Our
programs are designed to train men and women for ministry and as such are
spiritually based. We believe a quality education for ministry is possible
without government recognized accreditation.
- LOGOS is a destination school.
- We offer degrees
from the Associate to the Doctoral, so anyone can start with us and end with us
in the complete training of their ministry focus.
- Our
graduates are serving faithfully and successfully all over the world.
- Non-accredited
programs can be developed with the student in mind rather than artificial
requirements and prerequisites demanded by accrediting bodies.
Non-accreditation
allows a student to take more courses they want to take rather than classes to
fulfill government accreditation requirements.
-
Not
having government accreditation allows us to charge very low tuition allowing
our graduates the ability to enter into ministry debt-free.
- Fees
paid to government accreditation bodies would require us to raise our tuition.
- Government
accreditation means paying for some credit hours for classes that are not
necessary for the program being attempted.
